Destin Trip Reviews - A Weekend to Remember

We can’t decide if the helicopter ride or the Tiramisu French Toast was the highlight of the weekend.

Last month the hubby and I played tourists and shared some of our experiences with you. This month we had the kids (grown children) with us and had the chance to play again. We tried some places we hadn’t been before and had a couple of new experiences we’ll share with you.
First off, let me say the highlight of the weekend was taking a ride with
Timberview Helicopters 🚁 Dylan was our pilot and was engaging and entertaining while also providing a ton of valuable info. We left the Destin airport and flew along the coast east to Seaside and back. Along the way, we got to see a lot of familiar places as well as a few homes of celebrities. The biggest stars we got to see were several sharks swimming off the coast. That was an interesting sight…much better from up above than being down there in the water with them 😲

We had heard about Crackings. – Destin for breakfast but just had not had the opportunity to visit. Ivan was our server the first day and Arthur was the second day. Yes, we loved it so much we went back twice in one weekend. Every single dish we ordered was delicious. My favorite was the Tiramisu French Toast. We highly recommend it 😋

A lot of people in the group have asked about restaurants where you could pull a boat up to and dock for lunch 🚤 We found a great place in Fort Walton Beach called The Gulf Restaurant on Okaloosa Island. The is an outside restaurant with a very tropical theme 🌴🏖🏝 Definitely a great place for taking pics to post on social media and make your friends jealous. You place your order at the counter and find seating out in the tropical area along the water. My husband had the Grouper Sandwich and the rest of us had burgers. It was very good. We will definitely go back.

We had dinner another night at Capt. Dave’s on the Gulf. Outstanding food and service. Romeo was very attentive and efficient. We don’t like to wait to eat so we usually try to go to restaurants for dinner around 5:00 or so. Much later and you will be waiting in the busy season.

We had a day trip to Panama City Beach and had lunch at Sharky’s Beachfront Restaurant. Not our first time to visit; it was good as usual. Joey was very attentive and accommodating for us  changing booths to get out of the sun. It’s on the sand and the view is excellent. 🏖

While in Panama City Beach, we visited the Dolphin Marine Park. We were very disappointed with their customer service. As a matter of fact, it’s the worst we’ve experienced in the area. It was the most unpleasant part of the weekend but we made the most of it.

After dinner one night, we strolled over to The Village of Baytowne Wharf
in Sandestin. That’s a fun area with shops and dining and most of all desserts🍧🍨🍦 It started to rain right after we parked the car and got out, but we still had fun and got to see a few sights before we got completely soaked☔️ We’ll definitely be going back.

We chose the Sundestin Resort for our accommodations on this trip. The units are individually owned and we must say, ours was excellent in every way.

And finally, Laura, with Caught Your Moment Photography, captured some beautiful shots of our family. We are so grateful to have these precious times together documented forever. Thank you, Laura.
All in all, we had a wonderful trip.
